Mission

Portland State University (PSU) is Oregon’s most diverse, innovative and affordable research university. Since 1946, PSU has provided access to higher education to nontraditional students. Today, over 23,000 students comprise a student body of which 46% are the first in their family to attend an institution of higher education, nearly half are students of color, and 25% are parents. PSU’s motto, “Let Knowledge Serve the City,” exemplifies the university’s strengths in community-based education and research. Created in 1963, The PSU Foundation is responsible for raising and managing private resources to support the mission and priorities of PSU
